Job Title: Genset Engineer - Technical Support
Location: Shanghai | Shenzhen China
Giga builds the electrical infrastructure that powers the modern world of AI, Data Centers,
Renewables and Utilities. We manufacture transformers, switchboards, and modular data centers for
customers across the United States and the globe to help scale their business critical operations.
Together, our team combines fresh perspectives with deep industry experience to solve real-world
problems for our customers. We move fast and think practically. If you're ready to make an impact in
an industry that matters, we're looking for people like you.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Power Generation Expert specialized in industrial generator sets (Gensets) and emergency standby power systems. Reporting to the Director of Product Development, you will be a key member responsible for ensuring our modular, high-density infrastructure meets the highest standards of performance and stability. You will lead the integration of prime and standby power generation systems, enabling the reliable, efficient operation of business-critical equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
● Engineer and optimize advanced backup power architectures, encompassing diesel and gas-fueled generator sets, fuel delivery systems, and exhaust after-treatment technologies.
● Uphold rigorous compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and NFPA standards across all power generation designs, grounding protocols, and transfer equipment.
● Architect and refine sophisticated control strategies for paralleling switchgear, automatic transfer switches (ATS), and integrated load-sharing systems.
● Conduct deep-dive performance modeling, analyzing transient responses, voltage dips, and frequency stability during critical step-load applications to guarantee system integrity.
● Develop high-performance acoustic and thermal management solutions, including enclosure ventilation and noise attenuation tailored to specific site constraints.
● Direct factory acceptance testing (FAT) and provide expert-level troubleshooting for complex engine and alternator challenges within live or pilot environments.
● Partner with global supply chain teams to evaluate and qualify premium engine and alternator components from top-tier international vendors.
● Facilitate cross-functional synergy between U.S.-based product teams and local engineers to convert field performance data into actionable design enhancements.
Qualifications:
● Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in power generation, engine-generator integration, or data center facilities engineering.
● NEC Expertise: Deep understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and its requirements for onsite power generation and transfer equipment.
● Core Technical Skills: Strong fundamentals in reciprocating engines, alternators, and governor/voltage regulation systems.
● Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with fuel delivery systems, cooling systems (radiators/heat exchangers), and emission control technologies. https://www.gigaenergy.com/ Bella: HR Email:bellazheng@gigaenergy.com
