The Business Development Manager will lead green hydrogen project development activities in China, focusing on identifying technology partners, electrolyzer suppliers, EPC contractors, engineering institutes, and key stakeholders across the renewable hydrogen value chain. This role supports the company’s global hydrogen strategy by building a strong China‑based supply chain and securing partnerships for large‑scale hydrogen and ammonia projects overseas.
The position requires strong technical understanding of hydrogen production technologies, excellent relationship‑building skills, and the ability to bridge China’s hydrogen ecosystem with global project needs.
Key Responsibilities
1. China Market & Technology Intelligence
Build an in‑depth understanding of China’s green hydrogen ecosystem, including electrolyzer technologies (alkaline, PEM, SOEC), hydrogen storage, compression, and balance‑of‑plant equipment.
Track policy developments, cost trends, competitive landscape, and industry roadmaps.
Provide regular market intelligence reports to global headquarters.
2. Project Development in China
Lead early‑stage project development activities for green hydrogen and green ammonia projects.
Support feasibility studies, technical assessments, and supplier qualification processes.
Coordinate with global engineering and procurement teams to align technical specifications and project requirements.
3. Supplier & Partner Development
Identify, evaluate, and engage electrolyzer OEMs, EPC contractors, engineering institutes, and component suppliers in China.
Conduct due diligence on technology maturity, production capacity, export readiness, and financial stability.
Facilitate commercial discussions, MoUs, and long‑term partnership frameworks.
4. Government & Stakeholder Engagement
Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, industry associations, research institutes, and key opinion leaders in China’s hydrogen sector.
Monitor regulatory changes, export policies, certification requirements, and industry standards.
5. Cross‑Border Coordination
Act as the primary liaison between China‑based partners and global headquarters.
Support senior leadership visits, supplier audits, and technical workshops.
Ensure smooth communication across engineering, procurement, legal, and strategy teams.
Requirements
Must‑Have
Bachelor’s degree or above in Chemical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.
5+ years of experience in hydrogen, electrolyzer, renewable energy, or industrial equipment sectors.
Strong understanding of green hydrogen production technologies and supply chain.
Proven experience in business development, supplier development, or project development.
Excellent communication skills in Mandarin and English.
Ability to work independently and manage cross‑border projects.
Preferred
Existing network within China’s hydrogen ecosystem (electrolyzer OEMs, EPCs, institutes).
Experience with large‑scale renewable energy or hydrogen/ammonia projects.
Familiarity with international project development environments.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Strategic thinker with strong commercial and technical judgment.
Confident in navigating complex stakeholder environments.
Self‑driven, proactive, and capable of representing the company at a senior level.
Passionate about renewable energy and global energy transition.
