Head of finance China

Position Overview Our client is a leading multinational pharmaceutical company with an established presence in China. The company is seeking an experienced Head of Finance, China to lead the finance function and act as a strategic business partner to the China leadership team. The role will have overall responsibility for financial planning and analysis, accounting and reporting, internal controls, tax, treasury and compliance, while supporting the sustainable growth and strategic development of the China business. Key Responsibilities 1. Finance Leadership & Business Partnering Lead the overall Finance function for the China business and act as a key member of the China leadership team. Provide financial insights and recommendations on business performance, investment priorities, resource allocation and profitability. Support key strategic projects and transformation initiatives across the China organization. 2. FP&A & Performance Management Lead annual budgeting, forecasting and long-range financial planning processes. Drive monthly and quarterly business performance reviews and provide actionable insights to management. Analyze revenue, profitability, operating expenses, cash flow and key business drivers. Proactively identify financial risks and opportunities and recommend appropriate actions. Strengthen financial modelling, scenario planning and decision-support capabilities. 3. Accounting, Reporting & Financial Control Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting. Maintain strong financial governance and internal control standards. Ensure compliance with local statutory requirements and Group accounting policies. Oversee month-end and year-end closing, statutory reporting and external audits. Continuously improve finance processes, controls and operational efficiency. 4. Tax, Treasury & Compliance Oversee China tax matters, including corporate income tax, VAT, transfer pricing and other relevant tax requirements. Manage cash flow, liquidity, banking relationships and treasury activities. Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements and corporate policies. Work closely with Legal, Compliance and other functions to maintain a robust governance and risk-control environment. 5. Commercial Finance & Pharma Business Support Partner with Commercial, Market Access and other key functions on financial planning and investment decisions. Provide financial evaluation and ROI analysis for major commercial initiatives. Support pricing, portfolio and resource-allocation decisions from a financial perspective. Provide financial oversight for business development opportunities and other strategic initiatives where required. 6. Team Leadership & Finance Transformation Lead, coach and develop the China Finance team, building a high-performance and business-oriented finance organization. Develop finance talent and strengthen succession planning for key positions. Drive continuous improvement, digitalization and automation within the Finance function. Promote stronger analytical and business-partnering capabilities across the team.
