Legal Head (Oil&Gas)

Establish and continuously enhance the Group’s global legal governance framework, while building, leading and managing the international legal team and overseeing legal functions across subsidiaries. Lead and supervise legal support for major M&A, financing, joint venture, strategic cooperation and large-scale project development, ensuring effective legal risk management throughout the project lifecycle. Oversee legal matters relating to the Group’s overseas oil & gas assets and operations, including local legal structures, operational legal matters and cross-border risk management. Lead and coordinate the management of major international disputes, litigation and arbitration, including significant contentious matters involving subsidiaries. Oversee the legal management of the Group’s global oil & gas asset rights, licenses and petroleum contracts. Establish and manage the Group’s external counsel network, including law firm selection, engagement, performance management and legal fee control. Support the Group’s equity management, corporate governance and listed-company compliance matters. Qualifications & Experience Master’s degree or above in Law. Qualified to practise law in China or a common law jurisdiction. Minimum 10 years of relevant legal experience, including at least 3 years within the energy sector. Strong knowledge of the upstream oil & gas industry, with substantial experience managing legal risks associated with oil & gas projects. In-depth understanding of key upstream oil & gas agreements and petroleum contracts. Hands-on experience supporting significant M&A, financing, joint venture, major projects and overseas operations. Exposure to international disputes, listed-company compliance and complex commercial contracts. Strong knowledge and practical experience of common law principles and cross-border legal matters. Previous experience with a leading international law firm and/or managing a legal team within a large or multinational organization is highly preferred. Strong strategic thinking and commercial judgment, with the ability to advise senior stakeholders on complex legal and business matters. Excellent leadership, communication, coordination and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to operate independently and make sound decisions in complex, international environments. Excellent written and spoken English. Ideal Background We are looking for an experienced legal leader who combines upstream oil & gas expertise, international exposure and strong legal team leadership capabilities. The successful candidate will be comfortable handling complex cross-border transactions, overseas asset operations, major disputes and strategic legal matters at Group level.
