POSITION SUMMARY
This position reports to the Senior Manager of Category Management APAC and is primarily responsible for the strategic management of regional categories, including magnet wire, silicon steel, and other assigned categories. The role provides regional category leadership, ensuring alignment with segment and global category teams, and works closely with segment product leaders, operations, and other key stakeholders to deploy strategies that create value and sustainability across the supply chain. This key position collaborates closely with regional supply chain teams, operations, plant leadership, and corporate leaders to develop strategic plans and supporting objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and drive category strategies for magnet wire, silicon steel, and other assigned categories, including establishing strategic sourcing partnerships, leading negotiations, and implementing related strategies.
Lead supplier management strategies, including supplier development, supply base consolidation, cost‑reduction roadmaps, and implementation of supplier segmentation plans.
Partner with business segments and influence the strategic direction of category strategies, including design criteria and directed‑sourcing requirements.
Ensure alignment across the value chain between suppliers and end customers in terms of form, fit, function, price, and delivery requirements.
Provide strategic support to divisions within the broader global supply chain function.
Manage, track, and report key cost drivers and market trends from both historical and forecasting perspectives.
Establish and implement countermeasures to address negative performance and adverse market trends.
Gain a comprehensive understanding of total category cost, including an integrated view of tooling and component costs as part of the category strategy.
Partner with operational purchasing teams to ensure continuous process improvements.
Drive innovation and focus on continuous improvement within the supply chain organization.
Provide timely reporting of agreed‑upon KPIs and present strategic sourcing plans, activities, and achievements to the Senior Leadership Team.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree required; majors in Supply Chain, Engineering, or Business Administration preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of direct material sourcing experience, with multiple years in category management or related fields.
Deep understanding of the magnet wire and silicon steel supply base, cost drivers, market dynamics, and cost‑management/reduction strategies.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to apply a structured approach to understand, analyze, and solve complex problems.
Demonstrated ability to build working partnerships with senior executives and influence them to drive change.
Strong cross‑functional and cross‑departmental mindset, capable of working effectively within a decentralized organization.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present convincingly to senior leadership.
