Job Description
Job Overview
This role is with a foreign-owned automotive company, focusing on driving sales of OEM-assembled vehicles in the Indian market. You will lead end-to-end sales operations, leverage deep knowledge of India’s automotive market, develop targeted sales strategies, and manage dealer networks to achieve sales targets. The vehicles are primarily assembled in India and sold locally, so a strong grasp of local market dynamics, regulations, and cultural nuances is critical.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales Strategy & Execution: Develop and implement actionable sales strategies for the Indian market, including market segmentation, pricing tactics, and promotion plans, to drive vehicle sales volume and market share growth.
2. Dealer Network Management: Establish and manage a high-performing dealer network in India—recruit qualified dealers, set clear performance metrics, and provide ongoing support (e.g., training, inventory guidance) to ensure dealer compliance and sales efficiency.
3. Policy Development: Formulate dealer management policies (e.g., authorization criteria, incentive programs, after-sales service standards) and sales policies (e.g., discount rules, regional allocation), aligning them with company goals and local market needs.
4. Market & Competitor Analysis: Monitor India’s automotive market trends (e.g., consumer preferences, regulatory changes like emission standards or import policies), track competitor activities (pricing, product launches, sales strategies), and adjust strategies proactively.
5. Cross-Cultural Collaboration: Coordinate with internal teams (e.g., procurement, production, logistics from China, local assembly teams in India) and external partners, leveraging familiarity with Chinese and Indian cultures to ensure smooth communication and project alignment.
6. Sales Performance Tracking: Track key sales KPIs (e.g., monthly/quarterly sales targets, dealer performance, market share), analyze gaps, and propose corrective actions to senior management (in English) regularly.
Requirements
1. Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in Business Administration, Marketing, or Automotive Engineering; 5+ years of sales experience in the Indian automotive industry (passenger or commercial vehicles), with experience in dealer network management or sales strategy formulation preferred.
2. Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of India’s automotive market—including consumer behavior, local regulations (e.g., BIS, emission norms), distribution channels, and competitive landscape.
3. Language & Communication: Fluent in English (oral and written) for reporting to foreign management; proficiency in Hindi or other local Indian languages is a plus. Strong cross-cultural communication skills to bridge Chinese and Indian teams/partners.
4. Skills: Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and negotiation abilities; proven experience in developing and executing sales policies/dealer management systems; ability to work under pressure and meet sales targets.
5. Qualities: Results-driven, proactive, with strong leadership and team coordination skills; adaptable to the dynamic Indian market environment.
Additional Information
• Work Focus: India (may require frequent travel within India; occasional coordination with China-based teams)
• Reporting To: Overseas Sales Director
• Key Goal: Drive local sales growth of India-assembled OEM vehicles and build a robust dealer network.
