About the Role
We are seeking a Category Management Specialist to join a growing Procurement team based in Guangzhou. This role is responsible for executing sourcing and category management activities across direct and indirect spend categories within a regulated manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will have solid experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, and supplier management, with exposure to GMP-regulated operations. This position requires a hands-on professional who can independently manage sourcing projects, identify cost-saving opportunities, support category strategy development, and ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end sourcing activities for assigned categories, including market research, supplier identification, RFx processes, commercial negotiations, and contract implementation.
Support the development and execution of category strategies through spend analysis, supplier performance reviews, and market intelligence.
Lead sourcing activities for GMP-related materials, equipment, and services while ensuring compliance with applicable quality standards and internal procurement policies.
Conduct supplier qualification and evaluation in collaboration with Quality, Technical, and Operations teams.
Drive cost-saving and cost-avoidance initiatives through supplier optimization, commercial negotiations, benchmarking, and TCO analysis.
Support supplier risk management, dual-sourcing initiatives, business continuity planning, and alternative supplier development.
Prepare tender documentation, supplier comparisons, business cases, and sourcing recommendations.
Manage supplier relationships and performance through KPIs, scorecards, issue resolution, and regular business reviews.
Maintain procurement master data and purchasing documents within SAP MM or equivalent ERP systems.
Ensure compliance with procurement governance, GMP/GDP requirements, supplier quality standards, and relevant industry regulations.

Experience
3–6 years of experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Category Management, or Supply Chain.
Experience within a regulated and quality-driven industry, such as Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, Medical Devices, Fine Chemicals, Consumer Healthcare, or FMCG.
Proven experience managing sourcing projects from supplier selection through contract award and implementation.
Experience in supplier qualification, supplier performance management, and commercial negotiations.
Technical Knowledge & Skills
Strong understanding of category management and strategic sourcing methodologies.
Familiarity with GMP environments and regulated procurement processes is essential.
Knowledge of supplier quality requirements, risk management, and business continuity planning.
Hands-on experience with SAP MM (S/4HANA, ECC, or R/3) or similar ERP systems.
Advanced Excel and analytical skills, including spend analysis, cost modelling, and supplier evaluation.
Strong commercial acumen with experience identifying savings and process improvement opportunities.
Fluent Mandarin and English communication skills.
