Position Overview
The Quality Manager is responsible for leading the quality strategy, systems, and execution for a high‑tech manufacturing operation specializing in laser cutting systems, sheet‑metal processing equipment, CNC machinery, and industrial automation solutions. This role ensures that all products meet global quality standards, customer requirements, and regulatory compliance. The position drives continuous improvement, supplier development, and cross‑functional collaboration to enhance product reliability and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Strategy & System Management
Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with global standards.
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and other relevant machinery and safety certifications.
Lead internal and external audits; manage corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Establish and monitor quality KPIs to drive continuous improvement.
2. Product Quality & Process Control
Oversee quality control for laser cutting machines, bending machines, punching systems, and automation equipment.
Implement inspection standards, testing procedures, and process control plans.
Lead root cause analysis using 8D, Fishbone, 5 Why, and other quality tools.
Collaborate with Engineering and R&D to resolve design‑related quality issues.
3. Supplier Quality Management
Evaluate, audit, and develop suppliers of mechanical components, sheet‑metal parts, electronics, and precision assemblies.
Establish incoming quality standards and drive supplier corrective actions.
Work closely with Procurement to improve supplier performance and reduce non‑conformities.
4. Customer Quality & After‑Sales Support
Act as the primary contact for customer quality issues and escalations.
Analyze field failure data and lead cross‑functional improvement initiatives.
Support installation and commissioning teams to ensure smooth customer acceptance.
Manage customer complaints and ensure timely resolution.
5. Continuous Improvement & Lean Initiatives
Promote Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies across production lines.
Reduce scrap, rework, and warranty costs through structured improvement projects.
Optimize inspection processes and introduce automation where applicable.
6. Team Leadership & Collaboration
Lead and develop a quality team including IQC, IPQC, OQC, and quality engineers.
Work closely with Production, Engineering, R&D, Supply Chain, and Service teams.
Build a culture of quality awareness and operational excellence.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, or related fields.
7+ years of quality management experience in industrial machinery / CNC equipment / automation / laser systems / sheet‑metal processing.
Experience in multinational manufacturing environments preferred.
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of mechanical assemblies, sheet‑metal fabrication, CNC systems, and automation equipment.
Familiarity with ISO 9001, CE, and machinery safety standards.
Proficiency in quality tools: 8D, FMEA, SPC, MSA, PPAP, APQP.
Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret GD&T.
